In recent years, there has been a steady growth in demand for foods formulated with cleaner labels and simplified compositions, which has led the food industry to use natural ingredients. In this article we will focus on natural colorants and food coloring: Coloring Food. These ingredients make it possible to obtain intense colors without the need for artificial additives, which is in line with consumers' preference for “Clean Label” and natural products.

The main differences between natural colorants and coloring foods lie in their origin, production process and labeling

Natural colorants are food additives derived from natural sources such as plants, minerals or animals. They are extracted and, in some cases, undergo chemical or enzymatic processes to improve their stability and concentration, and are labeled under the legal designation of E numbers.

Coloring foods, on the other hand, are natural ingredients obtained by physical processes such as pressing, filtering or drying, and are not considered additives. Instead of being identified by E-numbers, they are labeled as extracts, concentrated juices, etc.

Crystal Technology: Intense and Stable Natural Colors

IMPAG Iberia is pleased to introduce Crystal technology: a patented innovation that is revolutionizing the world of natural colorants. Thanks to an exclusive process, it allows the creation of vibrant and long-lasting colors, with a shelf life of up to five years, without the need for special transport or refrigeration conditions.

Crystal technology colors offer multiple advantages: they are easy to handle, highly soluble and have exceptional stability. In addition, their high chromatic intensity makes them a superior alternative to traditional methods. Their excellent water dispersion and fluidity ensure optimum integration into a wide range of food products.
